Brookline Designer Ready To Produce Royal-Inspired Replica Dress
BROOKLINE (CBS) - The stunning bridal gowns in Anna Nieman's studio are her own designs and creation.
At the crack of dawn on Friday, she'll get started on a replica inspired by Kate Middleton's highly anticipated dress.
Said Nieman, "Everybody's waiting, especially designers, to get something new to incorporate into their designs."
WBZ-TV's Peg Rusconi reports
Princess Diana's puffy sleeves and seemingly endless train were trend-setting. The embroidery on her mother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth's train was seen as hopeful post-war.
Anna Nieman has already imagined what Kate Middleton might wear. She calls this idea The Katherine.
"I was thinking she was going to have some embroidery, maybe crushed diamonds..."
At first glimpse of the actual dress, she'll start sketching.
"Sketch everything and try to see every detail. What she's wearing, the fabric, if there's lace, what kind of lace."
Then she, her pattern-maker and two other seamstresses will work non-stop.
The goal of that frenzied weekend of work is to have a replica of Kate Middleton's gown in her Brookline studio's window by Monday.
