Bank Robbery Suspects Lead Police On Chase Through Braintree, Brockton
BRAINTREE (CBS) – Police arrested two bank robbery suspects following a chase through Braintree and Brockton.
An armed robbery took place Monday afternoon around 1:15 p.m. at Bank of America on Tremont Street in Braintree.
Police say a man showed a handgun during the robbery and then fled in a Toyota Camry driven by a second man.
State Police joined Braintree Police in a high speed pursuit down Route 3, Interstate 93, and Route 24.
Officers deployed a spike strip on Route 24 South near the Route 139 exit. The suspect hit the device but continued driving.
The driver exited Route 24 at Exit 19, and police called off the pursuit due to the high speed and congestion of the surrounding neighborhood.
A short time later, police found the car and began a slow-speed pursuit along Oak Street and Oak Ridge Drive in Brockton.
The car eventually came to a stop on Cherry Street in Brockton, hitting a telephone pole.
Both suspects ran from the car. The driver was quickly arrested and the passenger was found within minutes hiding in a dumpster.
Chevall Johns and Corey Robinson were each charged with armed robbery, larceny over $250 and other crimes.
The duo is scheduled to be arraigned in Quincy District Court on Tuesday morning.
