Britax Recalls 71K Infant Car Seats Over Fall Risk
WASHINGTON (CBS) -- Thousands of Britax infant car seats are being recalled because their carry handles can crack and break, which could lead to the seat falling.
The recall affects 71,000 Britax B-Safe 35 and B-Safe 35 Elite infant car seats and travel systems made between Oct. 2014 and July 2015. They were sold for up to $250 at Babies R Us, buybuy BABY, Target, and other stores and online retailers.
There have been 74 reports of the handles developing breaks or cracks while in use, and in one instance, an infant was bumped on the head when the car seat fell to the ground.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission says customers should stop using the car seat and apply online for a free repair kit.
