Bridgewater State Student Charged With Raping Children At Day Care
BOSTON (CBS) – A Bridgewater State University student has been charged with raping two children at a campus-run day care.
On Wednesday, 21-year-old Kyle Loughlin of Wrentham was charged with various acts of sexual abuse and indecent assault and battery by the BSU Police Department. The alleged victims are boys between the ages of four and five.
Loughlin works as a teacher's assistant in the early childhood education program and is a child care worker at the Children's Center. The Children's Center provides day care for children of students, faculty and staff at the university.
A woman whose daughter attends the day care says her trust is "completely crushed."
"The problem that I have is that there was no notification when the initial investigation started, or when he was arrested, or when he was indicted and I found out when I pulled into the parking lot," said the woman who did not want to be identified.
Bridgewater students were shocked.
"I'm disgusted by it," Krystal Adams said. "It's awful. You would never think that something like that would happen, especially in a school setting."
"I want to advocate for children like that," Sasha Gomes said. "Especially children that can't have a voice. Those two boys are very young."
The university says Loughlin passed a background check prior to working at the day care center.
Loughlin pleaded not guilty in court on Wednesday and is being held without bail.
