Bridge Over Taunton River Dedicated To Fallen Soldier Monti
TAUNTON (CBS) - A bridge over the Taunton River was dedicated on Sunday in memory of a fallen hero.
Sgt. Jared Monti received the Medal of Honor after he was killed in action trying to rescue a wounded soldier in Afghanistan.
Now, the Route 44 bridge will forever bear the name of the 30-year-old Raynham native.
"Sgt. Monti will never be forgotten for his sacrifice. Every titan holds their head high knowing they are a part of his legacy," said Capt. Mark Cleveland, who served with Sgt. Monti.
The naming of this bridge is especially poignant for Jared's dad Paul, because the two of them used to fish together from it.
