Brides Using Smart Phone Apps To Plan Weddings
BOSTON (CBS) - The wedding date is set and the photographer is booked, but Rebecca Lysen still has a lot to do for her upcoming wedding.
She keeps track of everything with her smart phone and a number of new apps designed specifically to help brides with everything from picking out rings to decorating their reception venue.
"They're there for brides on-the-go, so they can plan their wedding whenever they want and however they want," said Anja Winikka of The Knot.
It all starts with a picture-perfect dress.
Both the Brides Wedding Genius and the Wedding Dress Look Book showcase thousands of different styles.
You can browse by categories like price, designer, and silhouette.
"Even better, once you've found the dress that you're looking for, it geo-targets to where you live and finds all the bridal salons in your area that carry that dress," said Winikka.
There's even help for the groom, like Tiffany Ring Finder.
WBZ-TV's Paula Ebben reports
"All he has to do is get a hold of one of your current rings, put it right down on the iphone, and he can actually get your wedding ring size," said Sally Kilbridge of Brides Magazine.
My Mobile Checklist promises to help you stay on top of your to-do's.
And for last minute questions, there's Wedding 911.
"So, if she's standing at her rehearsal and she needs to know where the groomsmen stand, this is where to go," said Winikka.
Try ColorToy for help with decorations.
And Kilbridge recommends Etsy Addict for finishing touches.
"You're never going to find an app that's going to help you adjust your veil the day of the wedding. But in terms of organizing your wedding and keeping you on track, they really do a fantastic job."
The apps are either free or just a few dollars a piece - a small price to pay to help ease the wedding jitters.
