Bricks Fall From Abandoned Boston Building To Sidewalk
BOSTON (CBS) – Officials are concerned after they discovered that bricks fell from an abandoned building down to the sidewalk below in Boston on Tuesday.
As the snow along the sidewalk began to thaw, officials found the fallen bricks at the base of the building at the corner of Mass. Ave. and Washington Street.
WBZ-TV's Jonathan Elias reports.
An inspector checked out the abandoned building and determined it was in danger of possible collapse. Officers then cordoned off the area to not allow any pedestrians to walk buy.
"I don't think it's going to come down in one piece, but like I say, the thing is to just get people away and just get the engineers in here to see what's going on with it," said Dist. Chief Jeff Whitman of the Boston Fire Department.
The bus lane, bike lane, and one lane of traffic was blocked off.
The building is reportedly owned by the Church of Scientology.
