Breer On Toucher & Rich: Fights In Training Camps
Football is finally here! The Patriots host the New Orleans Saints at Gillette Thursday night for their first preseason game of the year.
As the league gets ready for the start of the season the NFL Network's Bert Breer joined 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher & Rich to discuss the fighting in Jets camp, Peyton Manning's status and disgruntled Steelers receiver Mike Wallace.
After two days of fighting, the New York Jets played nice at practice on Wednesday. We saw on a past season on Hard Knocks that Rex Ryan wasn't afraid to orchestrate that kind of stuff, is this his plan or is this just tensions running high?
"I think every coach orchestrates these things sometimes when they're in the dog days of camp and they think guys are dragging. I don't think every coach does it every year, but there's a story of Belichick doing it when he was with Cleveland. So this isn't the most uncommon thing in the world. I think the frequency it's happening at is a little jarring."
Could this affect team chemistry negatively with the offense and defense not getting along?
Maybe more interesting than the Jets fighting is Peyton Manning throwing in camp. It seems to be fairly guarded information, have they been trying to conceal this info? What has Breer heard or seen?
"Is he still working his way back, yes. Is it going to be a problem? I don't think anybody know that yet."
Wide receiver Mike Wallace and the Pittsburgh Steelers have been unable to come to terms on a new contract. The receiver is looking for a deal that will pay him as one of the league's elite wideouts.
The Pro Bowler has declined to sign the one-year, $2.7 million tender the Steelers have offered and has not shown up to camp. The Steelers have talked about bringing in Plaxico Burress, where does all of that stand right now.
Plus who will have the better year, Terrell Owens or Randy Moss?
