Brandon Browner Crushes Kanye West On Twitter, Calls Rapper 'A Sucker' For Grammy Stunt
BOSTON (CBS) -- Brandon Browner is fresh off winning the Super Bowl, atoning for missing last year's championship due to a suspension, and it came at the expense of his old team, no less. There's not much right now that can make the 30-year-old angry.
Except, apparently, for Kanye West.
In case you missed it, the rapper rushed the stage after Beck won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year. On the surface, it appeared as though Kanye was making fun of himself for the time he interrupted Taylor Swift's MTV VMA acceptance speech in 2009 in order to proclaim that Beyonce was deserving of winning the award. But after the show, Kanye went on a rant against the Grammys, saying Beck needs to "respect the artistry" and give the award to Beyonce.
This made many headlines around the country, and when Browner finally caught wind of it, he let it rip on Twitter on Tuesday night.
"KANYE WEST is a sucka! Everybody don't listen to Beyoncé. Second time he tried to steal somebody shine. First time it was a 15 yr old girl," Browner wrote. "Kanye try and play that I'm weird because of my genius. Non of the greats pull that stupid ish. Meaning Marley, Mike Jack, Tupac, Jayz etc."
Browner, who's one of the more physically imposing cornerbacks in the NFL at 6-foot-4, 221 pounds, said he would have loved to have been the one interrupted on stage.
"Peep who he tried Beck and Taylor Swift. Real tough guy," Browner said. "If only I could've been Beck for one night. Kanye would be rapping thru the wire."
That's a reference to Kanye's song from 2003, "Through The Wire," which he recorded while his jaw was wired shut after a car accident. Something tells me that Browner would probably take more of a shoulder-to-jaw route to achieving his goal.
Browner then retweeted several people who agreed with his stance, but then he wanted to clarify something very important.
"Beyoncé the truth tho," he tweeted.
Browner may not be afraid of West, but he knows better than to go at Queen Bey.
The cornerback then boldly went where no man has gone before.
He referred to Kanye West as SpongeBob SquarePants.
"Lastly on this sponge bob square pants(Kanye). Read that cbs article I retweeted. Beck played the instruments and sang," Browner wrote, adding the hashtags #trueartistry and #sucka. "Classics are songs (WE) all know. Montell Jordan "This Is How We Do It," the majority know word for word. Name a sponge bob song we know word4word."
Kanye West as SpongeBob SquarePants. You just never know what a Tuesday night on Twitter will bring.
It's not often that an athlete can make you laugh out loud from a Twitter rant, but, well, Brandon Browner's not your average athlete.
