Braintree Woman Sues Barbara Walters For $250K
BRAINTEE (CBS) - A Braintree woman has filed a $250,000 lawsuit against Barbara Walters over the television personality's best-selling memoir, "Audition."
Nancy Shay is mentioned in Walters' book as the girl who had a relationship with Walters' adopted daughter, Jacqueline Guber, during high school.
In the book, Walters refers to an incident where Shay and Guber were "high on God-knows-what," and suggests Shay was thrown out of school because of it.
According to court documents, Shay says she was expelled from school, but claims that "imaginary" incident wasn't the reason. She says reading the book caused her to fall into a deep depression.
When asked to comment on the suit by WBZ-TV, Shay refused, referring us to the court paperwork.
