Man Charged In Suspected Braintree Road Rage Stabbing

BRAINTREE (CBS) – A man wanted after a violent case of suspected road rage in Braintree has been arrested.

Mario Roman, 32, of Quincy, has been charged following the incident, Braintree Police announced at a Friday press conference.

Officers were called to Granite Street near Interstate 93 in Braintree Thursday night after a man had been stabbed several times.

Witnesses said the incident started at the intersection of Granite Street and Forbes Road.

About 50 feet before a traffic light, both drivers got out of their vehicles and a 30-year-old Randolph man was stabbed.

Roman took off following the stabbing, police said.

A witness was able to give police a vehicle description and partial license plate number, which led officers to Roman's Quincy home.

"I just want to emphasize information from the witness was very, very valuable to us to get us the conclusion that we did," Braintree Police Chief Russell Jenkins said.

Though Roman was not home at the time, officers located a Somerset address where his vehicle was found.

After interviewing Roman, he was arrested and brought back to Braintree where he was held overnight to be arraigned Friday in Quincy District Court.

Roman is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault with intent to maim or murder.

The victim in the incident underwent surgery at Boston Medical Center for stab wounds in his torso and shoulder. He is expected to survive.
