Brady Not Satisfied With Patriots' Offense After Win
BOSTON (CBS) -- The Patriots picked up their first win of the season on Sunday, but quarterback Tom Brady wasn't very happy with his offense following the 30-7 victory over the Vikings.
"I'm happy we won. I wish we could go out there and play like we are capable of," he said, slightly down following the win. "Just the way it is."
Brady was 15-of-22 for 149 yards and a touchdown in the victory and praised his offensive line, who kept him relatively clean (giving up just one sack on Sunday after allowing four against Miami in Week 1) and helped Stevan Ridley run for 101 yards on 25 carries. But Brady wasn't pleased that the team had to settle for field goals on three of their five scoring drives, and said they'll be hard at work on Monday to fix what didn't go right in Minnesota.
"We are going to try and make improvements, so that's why we get back to work tomorrow and see what we can do better," said Brady. "Similar to after last week -- try to make some improvements and hopefully we can go out there and do a better job."
While he was a little down on the performance of his offense, Brady had plenty of praise for the team's defense, who picked off Brady's former backup, Matt Cassel, four times in the win.
"They made a lot of great plays -- big-time plays," Brady said of the New England defense. "That was what we needed, and hopefully they keep doing it. So we have to start producing when we get it and take advantage of some of the things; getting the ball in short field and stuff and getting in the end zone.
"It was a quality win, a great team win," he said. "A lot of guys contributed and a lot of great plays were made. Hopefully offensively we can do a better job this week."
