Bradley Jay: 'Would A Reformed Catholic Church Invigorate Your Involvement In It?'
My name is Bradley Jay and I host the Jay Talking radio show which airs every Sunday evening at 10pm on WBZ NewsRadio 1030. Consider this:
Bradley Jay: 'Would A Reformed Catholic Church Invigorate Your Involvement In It?'
I have to admit that because society is badly broken, I am becoming more and more interested in the Catholic Church. With all its flaws and stubborn adherence to unpopular positions, there is a need for the Catholic Church in the modern world.
The unfortunate fact is that many human beings do not seem to have a hard-wired sense of morality. We have to learn it. And kids with bad parents simply don't learn it unless there is an institution to teach it. Schools won't teach it, and society at large can't seem to teach it, so there needs to be an entity devoted to teaching it. And I am not talking about self-serving doctrine. I am simply talking about teaching compassion, respect for others and the Golden Rule. That's it. That and nothing more.
Again, the Catholic Church is currently arrogant, self-serving, and damaged by the sex-abuse scandal, but if we can get a Pope willing to acknowledge the problems and fix them, society could benefit enormously. Whether you are a believer or not, a society and its lawmakers with a better sense of right and wrong could only benefit us all. Perhaps the separation of Church and State has truly alienated moral beliefs from political action?
Many of my friends will have a major problem with what I am writing here. I get it. The Catholic Church is broken. But if you agree that the human race needs guidance, you have to ask yourself one question.
And remember something I learned at the University Of New Hampshire, the words of Francis Bacon: "A little knowledge of science makes man an atheist, but an in-depth study of science makes him a believer in God."
