Bradley Jay: Guns Yes, Assault Weapons No.'
My name is Bradley Jay and I host the Jay Talking radio show which airs every Sunday evening at 10pm on WBZ NewsRadio 1030. Consider this:
Where do we draw the line when it comes to the Second Amendment?
I draw it at assault weapons. Civilians do not need assault weapons.
The most common reasons given in defense of assault weapon ownership are protection against a government gone tyrannical and home defense. These are poor justifications. Small arms will be of little use if the government turns against us, and assault weapons are a weak choice for home defense. Get a shotgun.
Weighed against the domestic slaughter wrought by assault weapons, the abstract case for them evaporates.
The world and human nature have changed a great deal since our formative days, and if the Founding Fathers could see what our society has become, they would weep. And they would ban assault weapons.
