Brad Stevens On Facing Kevin Durant: We Have To Break His Rhythm
BOSTON (CBS) - Kevin Durant is averaging a ridiculous 37 points per game in January, and if the Celtics hope to slow him down Friday night at the Garden they'll have to break his rhythm, according to head coach Brad Stevens.
For what it's worth, Durant's lowest scoring total during this impressive stretch came against the Celtics on January 5th when he scored just 21 points.
Stevens appeared on 98.5 The Sports Hub's Gresh & Zolak program and joked, "It's been a tough week for us, ha?" - referencing his team having to play LeBron James and Kevin Durant four days apart.

"That's a great question. We can all honestly say nobody has the answer to that. We have to try and make it as difficult as possible and try to break his rhythm. You have to switch different guys onto him, you can bring more than one guy over [to guard him]. Kevin is as good as they come, he can score the ball so many different ways and the guys around him really complement him well. He's a guy that you have got to pay a lot of attention to, but you have to respect the other guys as well. It's a really well-rounded team, but there's no question Durant is as big a superstar as there is."
Rajon Rondo was held out of Wednesday's contest in Washington as part of a maintenance day for his healing knee, and in the three games since his return he's averaging 22 minutes per game.
Stevens expects his workload to increase marginally tonight against Oklahoma City, where he could play upwards of 25 minutes.
