Bounce Back Fantasy Season For Roddy White? Dave Richard Says Yes
BOSTON (CBS) - Your draft is likely right around the corner, so for all your fantasy football needs 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher & Rich brought in expert Dave Richard of CBS Sports Thursday morning.
The Eagles are in town for joint practices with the Patriots, so the conversation started with Philadelphia signal caller Nick Foles.
"I don't think he'll have the same touchdown-to-interception ratio. He had 27 touchdowns and only threw two interceptions -- in the preseason game last week he threw two picks in one quarter," said Richard. "I do think he'll be very good though, but not because I think Nick Foles is the next Tom Brady or anything. It's because of Chip Kelly's offense. It's gonna allow him to play well and put up big numbers. That is what's key in fantasy football."
In a standard scoring league, running backs are the first to go off the board. There's a crop of five backs this year worthy of top five picks: LeSean McCoy, Matt Forte, Adrian Peterson, Eddie Lacy and Jamaal Charles. After that, and only after that, should you start to consider a different position.
If you're sitting there with the no. 6 pick and all of those players are gone, Richard says you then can go after a player like Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson.
In other wide receiver news, Richard expects Falcons wideout Roddy White to have a big year.
"I think Roddy White bounces back. A lot of people are going to overlook him because of the ankle sprain and he didn't play like himself, but towards the end of the year he started to. Now that Tony Gonzalez is gone, when Matt Ryan throws the football it will go to Roddy White in the slot more often than not. White is going to have a fantastic year."
