Bottom Line On Beckett: Be Ready For Playoffs
BOSTON (CBS) - On the surface it appears that Josh Beckett's injured ankle will be just fine.
Red Sox team doctors released a statement Tuesday night confirming the original diagnosis of a sprained ankle. No injured ankle or Achilles tendons. Beckett will receive treatment and then be checked on again later in the week.
It's about as good as you could hope for considering the circumstances.
But now, here's the bottom line...
I don't care if Beckett misses one, two, or the rest of his regular season starts. All I care about is Josh Beckett being ready to take the mound come Game 2 of the ALDS. That's it. As close to 100-percent possible, period.
If he's not, then Boston has virtually no chance of winning a World Series. And that's all anyone cares about around here, correct?

We saw a healthy Beckett in 2003 and 2007 and both times his team won the World Series. In 2008, when Beckett was injured, the Sox lost in Game 7 of the ALCS.
So, while there is good news on Josh Beckett, he still does have a sprained ankle with just over three weeks left until the postseason.
This one will be a story to watch into October...
