The Museum of Fine Arts is one of the best places in Boston to take virtually any type of art class, and this applies to drawing as well. Among the classes offered by the MFA are those for children of all ages, beginner drawing, intermediate drawing and much more. There are also art appreciation tours offered, so aspiring artists can get a guided tour of a specific set of pieces to inspire them and enhance their knowledge. It is never too late to learn how to draw, which is why the Boston Center for Adult Education offers drawing classes to grown-ups. Classes include beginning drawing, daytime drawing and weekend drawing for all levels. There is a diverse offering of art courses, so it is easy to stay busy, even as a student progresses out of the available drawing courses. For many of the art classes, there is no additional charge for materials, but be sure to double check all tuition and fees before committing.

Perspective drawing, teen drawing, figure drawing, drop-in figure classes, evening classes and more are all part of The Eliot School's offerings. Art teachers in the area can also come to the school for enrichment classes. These count for credit toward re-accreditation. Adult education centers around Boston really know how to help adults develop professional and recreational skills. The Cambridge Center for Adult Education teaches everything from cooking to foreign language. Tucked in the huge list of courses offered by the center is a group of drawing classes that include botanical drawing, several types of calligraphy, cartoon drawing, composition, basic drawing, figure drawing, anatomy, etc. Few, if any, centers in the Boston area offer quite as many courses for sketching, so be sure to browse through the list before settling on a class.
