Boston's Best Places For New Year's Day Brunch

Spend the first day of a new year with delicious food and drinks at brunch at one of Boston's best restaurants. From savory egg dishes to sweet stacks of French toast, there are plenty of options at the following locations. Grab the gang and make sure to show up for one of these area brunches for a satisfying menu with plenty of drinks to rehydrate after a long night of celebrating.

Located right on the Waterfront in Boston, at the Boston Harbor Hotel, is Meritage. A perfect place to eat a delicious brunch, New Year's Day dining will be served for $55 for adults and $25 for children 10 years old and younger. The menu features everything from omelets made to order to seafood dishes including the Nantucket scallops, crab, cheddar and scallion quesadillas or the pan-seared cod cakes. There will also be sirloin steak and pastry-wrapped Atlantic halibut and spinach with shrimp and tarragon sauce. Plus, expect all of the brunch classics like oatmeal, French toast, eggs with Canadian bacon and more.

The Langham is one of the best places to go for a holiday meal, including the Boston New Year's Eve Recovery Brunch it will be hosting.  Café Fleuri at The Langham will be featuring executive chef Mark Sapienza's extensive menu including traditional breakfast items, omelets made your way, carving and pasta stations and more for $73 for adults and $36 children, ages five to 12. Plus toast to the New Year with a glass of sparkling wine or a mimosa. Reservations can be made for the 11:30 a.m., 12 p.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. seatings.

Mooo… in Boston's Beacon Hill neighborhood has a memorable meal planned for New Year's Day. Stand-out dishes include the asparagus and exotic mushroom omelet with fontina cheese. There will also be Kobe steak and eggs and French toast with caramelized banana and gingered maple, amongst the many options. Mooo... is serving this special meal starting at 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. for brunch and then it also has the regular bar menu available for those who don't make it out until later in the day. What makes this location a special option is that it has hotel and meal packages for the XV Beacon Hotel with rates starting at $515 for New Year's Eve as well.

The Forbes' four star-rated Asana Restaurant at the Mandarin Oriental in Boston is inviting guests in for a drink that will wake them right up on New Year's Day. The New Beginning's Brunch will offer plenty of dining options from the full à la carte brunch menu with all of the classic breakfast dishes. Then to wash it down, the Detox Bloody Mary, for $12, will combine Russian Standard Vodka infused with roasted peppers and bacon, homemade tomato juice, wheat grass and an assortment of citrus juices, all served with pickled radishes for a drink like no other. The New Beginnings Brunch menu will start at $15 per person and will be offered starting at 11 a.m. through 3 p.m.

Located in South Boston (aka Southie) is Local 149. Chef David Nevins has a delicious and very friendly-on-the-wallet brunch menu available on New Year's Day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Guests will enjoy drink specials including the "Recovery Plan" which will include carafes of Gatorade and Bantam Cider to sip in Champagne Flutes for only $6, just in case a hangover creeps up. And to eat, comforting cuisine includes stuffed crepes Suzette with warm ricotta and cottage cheese stuffing and Grand Marnier-glazed oranges. Other menu highlights include the Biltmore burrito with shredded beef, eggs, cheese, pico de gallo, sour cream and avocado packed into it, alongside home fries, or the lobster Macmuffin egg sandwich is sure to hit the spot.
