Dogs are walked either individually or in very small groups to provide personalized service with a safety-first attitude. A daily log is provided for each pet walked. Evening and weekend walks are also available but special restrictions apply. The standard walk time is 20 to 30 minutes for about $15.

Founder of The Urban Hound, Rebecca Willson, had one goal in mind when she started her dog walking service [to] "open the best dog walking company in Boston." Six years later, the company is a Boston mainstay for dogs and dog parents. The Urban Hound provides dog walking services for canines of all shapes and sizes. Walkers on group walks will never have more than three dogs at any given time. Individual walks are an option for those wanting one-on-one attention. Irish native and veterinary assistant Katherine Heatley opened Kat's Dog Walking & Pet Sitting in 2005 and has never looked back. Dogs are generally walked with one or two other dogs, at a comfortable pace. All walks are on-leash and provide a great opportunity for socializing the pet. Her service area is mainly Dorchester and Southie. In addition to dog walking, play groups, cat care and small animal care is also available.

With its main location in Cambridge and its brand-new location in Acton, Boston Dog Company is the way to go for individualized dog walking services. The company uses a GPS-enabled collar so dog parents can track their canine family member during the walk. For those who are internet-challenged, a printed report and record is provided showing the route and time of the walk. The company prides itself on one-on-one attention for each dog during a "solo walk" and is unique in this aspect (unlike most other dog walking companies in the area).

Also known as WGO?, WannaGoOut was established in 2003 and perseveres 10 years later as Boston's "best" for on-leash and off-leash walks. Group walks never exceed four dogs at a time. Detailed written reports document each pooch's experience on the walk. The company uses Power PetSitter, an online scheduling provider that makes scheduling Fluffy's walk times a snap.
