Boston's Best Cupcakes

Age is just a number, especially when it comes to having a sweet tooth. Once reserved for kids' birthday parties, cupcakes have gone gourmet in recent years. In Boston, many neighborhood shops specialize in the art of baking moist, fluffy cupcakes, topping them with flavorful frosting, perhaps adding a succulent filling, and decorating them just right. - By Yoojin Cho


"Delectable espresso flavored cake baked with Callebaut chocolate crowned with signature Sweet frosting and a dusting of cinnamon." Cappuccino is just one of many rich, moist cupcakes at Sweet. If you're not a fan of Cappuccino, perhaps Red Velvet or Boston Cream Pie will satisfy for sweet craving. Don't forget your favorite canine; Sweet has Pupcakes as well.


Eggnog, Peppermint, French Toast, Oreo, Butterscotch, Caramel Apple are only a small example of all the flavors they offer at Babycakes. Each day has its own specials, but remember, they are closed on Mondays.


Using all natural ingredients, Kickass Cupcakes says "Our cupcakes really kick ass!" If you're looking to fulfill your sweet tooth but without trans fat, hydrogenated oil, artificial flavors or preservatives, this is the place to go.


It looks like a normal party supplies store at first. Streamers, balloons and tablecloths cover the store. Look carefully, you'll spot the cupcake stand filled with colorful goods. You can also go for a taste testing before placing your order.



Lyndell's has been around since 1887. So, obviously they have figured out the art of baking the best and the freshest cakes, pastries and pies.


Petsi uses local ingredients to bake their cupcakes. They offer seasonal specials, such as Apple Crumb and Eggnog Custard during Thanksgiving.



Flour Bakery & Café offers vegan, gluten-free, nut-free and dairy-free options for those with specific dietary requirements. Each location also has its own daily and weekly special menu.
