Boston Victim's Family Sues Massport, United, Security Company Over 9/11 Attacks
BOSTON (CBS) - The family of a Boston man killed in the attacks on September 11, 2001 is suing Massport, United Airlines and a security screening company, claiming they all failed to prevent his death.
Mark Bavis of Roslindale died aboard United Airlines flight 175, which slammed into the World Trade Center's south tower.
The family calls it astounding that Massport and security screeners were unaware of the threat posed by Al Qaeda and that they allowed terrorists to board the plane.
Mark's twin brother Mike Bavis released a statement on behalf of his family.
"We feel that in our hearts and minds that what my brother had to go through was easily preventable," the statement read.
"That responsibility was United's, Massport's and Huntley Security."
The Bavis family's wrongful death lawsuit is the first to come from the 9/11 terror attacks.
