Boston University Identifies Grad Student Killed In Allston Shooting
ALLSTON (CBS) - A Boston University graduate student who was shot and killed Thursday morning in Allston has been identified as Kanagala Seshadri Rao.
BU officials say the 24-year-old Rao was a Graduate School of Management student from India who was living in Brighton.
Police found Rao on the sidewalk on Allston Street around 2:30 a.m. Thursday, just steps from Commonwealth Avenue. He had been shot in the leg and head. No arrests have been made in the shooting.
"Our prayers go out to the Rao family and friends," BU President Robert A. Brown said in a statement. "We are all deeply saddened by his death."
The school has asked Dean of Students Kenneth Elmore to provide support to any member of the community who needs it.
Elmore said BU and Boston police were working together to increase patrols in neighborhood around the school.
"It's important that all students on or around the BU campus make their personal safety the highest priority," Elmore told the BU Daily.
