Uber Driver Serenades Unsuspecting Passengers In Boston

BOSTON (CBS) – An Uber driver with some serious singing skills is serenading unsuspecting passengers as he takes them around Boston.

David Won is a laid off loan officer turned Uber driver, who has been an artist on a quest for a long time.

"I have been singing ever since I was a very little boy," he says.

Growing up in South Korea, David's teachers would ask him to help calm a rowdy class. In high school, opera became everything.

"Opera is like all music, all in one piece," Won said. "There's a story, there's a play, acting, dancing."

So when he became an Uber driver, opera came with him.

"I just hum along, sometimes I sing softly along and sometimes people ask me to sing louder," he says. "It doesn't matter where I am, I just sing."

Though he often performs in churches, at 58, David aspires to join an opera company.

"That would be my dream come true," he says.

And if it doesn't come true, David will still sing anywhere including his Uber car. He can't help it, that's who he is. And his riders leave all the richer.

"I hope they can feel my heart and then take that wherever they are going," he says.

David sings opera in seven languages and he does take requests as long as they're classical.
