'Boston Strong' Makes Cover Of Sports Illustrated

BOSTON (CBS) -- For the second straight week, Boston has been featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated, though this time, it's for a much more uplifting reason.

One week after the magazine dedicated its cover to the Boston Marathon bombings, SI used an image of Jonny Gomes flexing his muscles while wearing the Red Sox' special "Boston" home jerseys from Saturday afternoon at Fenway Park.

The cover of the magazine that will go out to the nation includes Gomes in the top right corner, with Kevin Durant the main focus, but the regional cover puts the Boston story front and center.

"Boston Strong: Triumph After Tragedy" the headline reads, accompanying a story in the magazine by S.L. Price.

"From a sports context, Boston Strong was the story in New England this weekend, especially on Saturday, the day after the lockdown and the capture of the second of the Marathon bombing suspects," managing editor Chris Stone said in a release. "There it is: a Sox player flexing his guns after hitting a double to start a game-winning rally.

"At that moment, I don't know if there's any image that could have better captured the mood."
