Police Identify Suspicious Penske Truck In Boston As No Threat
BOSTON (CBS) - Police were on alert on Sunday, the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks, after receiving a report that three men were seen loading a Penske truck on Saturday night.
A caller told Boston police that the men were apparently loading 55-gallon drums into the 18-foot Penske truck at the 600-block of Columbus Avenue after 10 p.m. Saturday.
Local and state police had advised officers to stop trucks matching the description, identify and interview the driver and passenger(s) and investigate the truck's contents.
"Most probably (it) is no threat but given the day, it is the prudent action," State police spokesman Dave Procopio told WBZ-TV.
Police later found that the truck was picking up charitable goods.
