Red Sox Sign All-Star Closer Matt Barnes To 2-Year Extension
BOSTON (CBS) – The Red Sox and closer Matt Barnes have agreed to a two-year contract extension, the team announced on Sunday.
Barnes was selected to his first All-Star team this year.
His new contract spans 2022 and 2023, with a team option for 2024.
Alex Speier of the Boston Globe, who first reported the deal, said the contract will be worth $7.25 million in 2022, $7.5 million in 2023 and the club option for 2024 will be worth $8 million.
