Boston Police Take 500 Guns Off Streets In 2012
BOSTON (CBS) - It's fitted with a grenade launcher.
A Bushmaster Assault Rifle, similar to the one used in the Newtown, Conn. school shooting, was taken off the streets of Roslindale, from the car of a career criminal.
This is just one of 500 guns taken off Boston streets this year alone and Boston Police say it has to stop.
Just days after the Newtown shooting, the police department is calling for change.
Sarah Flint is with the Mothers of Justice and Equality and she is standing with Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis.
"What I think needs to be done is Washington listen to citizens," Flint said. "Too many of our kids are being murdered."
Davis, a gun owner since age 16, says it's not about the Second Amendment but rather, safety.
