Boston Police Prepare For St. Patrick's Weekend
BOSTON (CBS) - Boston Police are ready for one big Irish party this weekend. "I ask people to respect the neighborhoods when you're going to establishments, when you're leaving parties," says Superintendent William Evans. He says police will have extra patrols from Friday to Sunday in neighborhoods with Irish pubs, including Brighton, Faneuil Hall, and South Boston.
Police also plan to heavily patrol the St. Patrick's Day Parade in South Boston on Sunday. "We hope for a great day, but there's going to be zero tolerance for public drinking," says Evans. Last year, Boston Police issued 363 citations on parade day, each carrying a $200.00 fine.
There will also be a curfew for some South Boston businesses Sunday. Liquor stores have to close by 4:00pm. Pubs will close doors to customers in at 6:30pm, and shut down by 7:30.
