2 Boston Police Officers Shot, One Suspect Killed In Dorchester
BOSTON (CBS) - A gun battle on the streets of Dorchester left one suspect dead and two veteran Boston police officers injured with gunshot wounds. Police are still searching for a second suspect involved in the incident.
The shooting happened around 1:45 p.m. near Dorchester Avenue and Shepton Street. The plainclothes narcotics officers witnessed two men "acting in a suspicious manner" and then got out of their vehicle and identified themselves, according to Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis.
The two men then allegedly reached into their clothing and at least one pulled out a gun and fired at the officers. The officers then returned fire. The injured officers have been identified as Harry Jean and Terry Cotton, both 24-year veterans of the Boston Police Department.
Commissioner Davis says the officers both suffered non-life threatening gunshot wounds to the legs.
The suspect who was shot and killed has been identified as 21-year-old Roudy Hendricks of Brockton. The second suspect is described as a light-skinned black male, with a slim build, wearing a maroon shirt with stripes and braided hair.
