Boston Police Officer Arrested In Prostitution Sting

LYNN (CBS) — A Boston police officer is facing charges and has been placed on paid administrative leave after he was arrested in a prostitution sting in Lynn.

The officer, Detective Lysander Wright, 48, faces charges of solicitation after he was among 16 men arrested during the crackdown in downtown Lynn overnight.

Lynn police say Wright approached an undercover officer near Union and Pinkham streets just after midnight Friday morning and offered that officer $20 in exchange for a sex act.

Wright denied the accusation, according to police.

On Friday, Wright waived his right to appear in court and was released on personal recognizance.

Boston Police issued a statement saying Wright had been placed on leave.

"Wright has been place on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the charges. The Department has taken his service weapon," the statement said.

Wright has reportedly been in trouble before. In 2003, he was charged with assault after he was accused of attacking his daughter. In 2007, Wright was among three Boston police officers sued by a suspect who alleged they beat him up.
