Boston Police, Medics Called To Red Sox Owner John Henry's Yacht
BOSTON (CBS) - Boston police are looking into what appears to have been a suicide on the yacht owned by Red Sox owner John Henry Monday afternoon.
Around noon, authorities and medics were called to Rowes Wharf, behind the Boston Harbor Hotel where Henry's yacht Iroquois is docked.
Police Commissioner Ed Davis and Superintendent William Evans were also on the scene.
Boston police spokeswoman Cheryl Fiandaca said officers found a member of the yacht crew in cardiac arrest. The man, who was about 30 years old, later died in what Fiandaca said was "an apparent suicide."
His name has not been released.
The Red Sox issued the following statement Monday afternoon:
Earlier today, a crew member on the vessel, M/Y Iroquois, apparently took his life aboard the vessel docked at 30 Rowes Wharf. Mr. Henry and the members of the Boston Red Sox are saddened by the news and send deepest condolences to his family.
According to the statement from the Red Sox, only crew members were on board the vessel at the time.
