Boston Police Hope New Evidence Will Crack 2012 Triple Murder Case

BOSTON (CBS) - Boston Police are putting out new evidence in the murders of three women in Mattapan, hoping someone will come forward with information.

On August 12, 2012, at about 9:30 p.m., Genevieve Marie Phillip, 22, of Milton, Kristen Lartey, 22, of Hyde Park, and Sharrice Perkins, 22, of Dorchester, were gunned down as they sat in a car on Harlem Street. A fourth woman was shot but survived.

Now detectives are saying the victims attended a gathering at Shattuck Picnic Grove in Franklin Park with more than 100 people shortly before the shootings.

Police are looking to speak with anyone who may have been there.

Investigators have also released new photos of a light-colored SUV that was believed to be connected to the shootings.

They believe that vehicle is a newer model white Saturn Vue or Chevrolet Captiva.

The new images appear to show a different vehicle than one in an image released last year and originally identified as possibly being tied to the shooting.

"Sharrice's life is too young to be taken. I am sure there's someone that knows something and I would appreciate if someone came forward," Angela Francis said.

On Saturday, Boston Police held a press conference to reach out to the public for help. Police said the shooting was not random.

"I just miss her so much. Till this day, I think back to the good times when we used to laugh," said Sharrice's brother, Chris Perkins.

Sharrice's family says its been a painful year without their daughter, but they are not giving up. "We are not frustrated. We have the faith that they are going to find them," Francis said of those responsible for the killings.

Days after the murders, Police Commissioner Ed Davis suggested the killings were gang-related and that one of the victims was specifically targeted.

Police did not say which of the victims was targeted. A year ago, investigators also said they had been flooded with tips about the crime.

Lartey had just graduated from St. John's in New York before her death.

Phillip had a child. According to multiple reports, Phillip was also a first cousin once removed of Odin Lloyd, the man police say was murdered by former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez.
