Boston Police Bust Man On Charge Of Illegal Gun Possession After Alleged Threat
BOSTON (CBS) – Boston police arrested a Jamaica Plain man on charges of illegal possession of a gun and making threats with the weapon.
Shortly after 4:30 a.m. Saturday police responded to a call that there was a person with a gun in the area of St. James Street in Roxbury.
When police responded, the caller told them three people were making a commotion and ringing the buzzer outside his apartment. The caller told officers he knew two of the people but when he opened the door to ask them to leave, the third person took a small, silver semi-automatic gun from his pocket and threatened him before leaving, police said.
Police got a tip that the person with the gun was headed to the area of Hemenway Street in the Fenway. Shortly after, officers saw a man fitting the description in the area and followed him. When the suspect was ordered to stop, police said, officers heard the sound of metal on a dumpster near where the man stood.
Officers recovered a silver semi-automatic gun with white masking tape wrapped around a black handle from underneath the dumpster, police said. The suspect, Jewil E. Guerrero, 24, of Jamaica Plain, allegedly told police he did not have a license to carry a firearm.
Guerrero was placed under arrest for unlawful possession of a firearm, assault by means of a dangerous weapon, and threats to commit a crime.
