Boston Police Break Up Suspected Dog Fighting Ring In Dorchester
DORCHESTER (CBS) - Boston Police have broken up a suspected dog fighting ring in Dorchester.
Police raided a home on Mather Street Monday night after someone tipped them off about the situation. Inside, officers seized 11 "pit bull-like" dogs that police say were living in deplorable conditions.
According to detectives, the animals were either being held in metal pens, crates, chain link cages or chained to walls.

The animals had no access to food or water and were sitting in their own blood, feces and urine. Detectives said all of the dogs were in poor physical condition and had serious injuries.
They also recovered at least one dead dog.
The rescued animals were over to Boston Animal Control.
Officers also seized several items that are commonly associated with dog fighting. Police say the man who owns those dogs is currently out of state, but he confirms the animals belong to him.
