'Boston Piano Kid' Launches Campaign To Play With Billy Joel
BOSTON (CBS) - Bradley Bartlett-Roche of Central Mass. has been playing piano since he was two years old.
The 13-year-old became the youngest musician ever asked to perform regularly at Boston's Faneuil Hall Marketplace.
The teen idolizes Billy Joel and has now launched a viral campaign to play on stage with Joel when the singer-songwriter plays Fenway Park in August.
Bradley told us he loves Joel's music because he can "really relate to a lot of things he writes about."
In addition to posting a video on YouTube and soliciting Billy Joel on Twitter, Bradley also had his manager write Joel a letter. But Bradley has tried to get Joel's attention in person too.
The past two times he's seen Billy perform at Fenway, Bradley brought a homemade sign that reads "ROOT BEER RAG, LET'S DUET BILLY!" He's tried to hold up the sign for Billy to see.
'Root Beer Rag' is a little known song written by Joel. When Bradley performs the song live, he often plays laying upside down on his piano bench.
Bradley is such a good player, Berklee School of Music recently admitted him to a prestigious five-week music program that is usually reserved for students 15 and older.
