Boston Police Investigate Report Of Person With Gun Near School
DORCHESTER (CBS) -- Boston Police say they're investigating a report of a person with a gun near the Jeremiah Burke High School Tuesday morning.
Boston Police Media Relations told WBZ-TV that the initial report was for a person trying to enter the school with a gun.
Police later told WBZ that the report was for a person with what appeared to be a gun walking past the school, and that the person did not try to enter the building.
Police said no shots were fired.
They said the person, described as a male in a black or red hooded sweatshirt, fled down an alley on Washington Street.
After a search, police said they did not find the suspect or a firearm.
Boston Public Schools told WBZ the high school was briefly placed in "safe mode," which was cleared after several minutes.
No further information was yet available.
Earlier this year, 17-year-old Raekwon Brown was shot and killed in a pizza restaurant near this same school. Three others were injured in the shooting.
Three men were arrested in connection to Brown's murder.
