Boston Marathon Forecast: Rain Possible
BOSTON (CBS) - As with every weather story in New England, there is typically some good news and bad news. And while it is still early, it appears this will be the case for Marathon Monday.

Let's start with the good news.
It will NOT be hot. Actually it likely won't even be warm.
Starting on Wednesday of this week, our temperatures are going to take a nosedive and they will be below normal for the foreseeable future. Most runners will tell you that the absolute worst weather for running marathons is hot weather and most everything else can be tolerated.
Well, cross that potential problem off the list! Temperatures are likely to be in the 40's or 50's, we are fairly certain with this portion of the forecast.
Now for the bad news.
Some rain or storminess cannot be ruled out.
In fact, at this point I would say that the chances for a wet Marathon Monday are at least 50-50, perhaps a bit higher.
Starting this weekend there will be several storm systems threatening our area. None of them look all that strong and no nor'easters in the forecast thankfully, but there will be a threat for rain each and every day starting Saturday and going through early next week.
Weak storms likely mean weak winds, so I'm not anticipating any significant wind at this point.
Again, it is early and adjustments will be made to this forecast, but for now, our official Marathon Monday forecast:
Sky Conditions: Mainly Cloudy
Precipitation Chances: 50-50 or higher, threat of rain showers
Temperatures: 40's at start, near or slightly above 50 through the course
Wind: Light, probably onshore close to Boston
I will have daily updates to this forecast and provide much more detailed analysis as we get closer to the big day.
