Boston Marathon Bombing Survivors Grand Marshals At Lowell Parade
LOWELL (CBS) -- They are an inspiration wherever they go and this weekend four Boston Marathon bombing survivors were grand marshals for the City of Lights Parade in Lowell.
"It's so awesome and everyone screaming 'Boston strong' makes me feel good," Sydney Corcoran said.
Riding in car with their arms in the air, Boston Marathon survivors Sydney and Celeste Corcoran, Rosanne Sdoia and Jeff Bauman were happy to be a part of the holiday celebration.
Both Celeste and Bauman lost their legs in the explosion.
"I am just doing physical therapy; doing as much walking as I can right now," Bauman said.
Celeste Corcoran said her recovery has not been easy. "Things are getting better, but I am not going to sugar coat anything. This is the hardest thing I've done," she said.
All four survivors sat and watched as 63 floats, marching bands and trucks paraded through downtown Lowell. One of the highlights was the 2013 World Series trophy, which also was honored at the parade.
"It's a lot of fun; a great way to kick off the holiday season after such a tragic situation," Sdoia said.
While these survivors don't want all the attention, they certainly do appreciate the love and support they've received. "It carries you forward through the recovery process. People say I inspire them, but this inspires me," Sdoia said.
