Boston Herald Moving Offices To Seaport District
BOSTON (AP) -- The Boston Herald is moving to a new home in the south Boston Seaport District early next year.
Herald Media president and publisher Patrick Purcell announced Tuesday the company has executed a 10-year lease for office space at the Seaport Center, 451 D Street.
The newspaper has been located on Harrison Avenue in the South End for more than 50 years. That land is planned for redevelopment.
Purcell said in a statement that leaving the Herald's longtime home is "somewhat bittersweet" but the amenities and efficiencies at a new location he called "bustling with energy" will be substantial.
The newspaper said in a story on its website that it will be leasing 51,000 square feet, the west half of the nine-story building's fifth and sixth floors.
