Video Shows Boston Globe Truck Airborne, Crash Landing On Leverett Connector
BOSTON (CBS) - A state Department of Transportation surveillance camera caught a horrific truck crash on video in Boston Monday.
Watch: MassDOT raw video of crash:
A Cadillac collided with a Boston Globe delivery truck on the northbound side of Interstate 93 around 3:13 a.m., pushing the truck over the guardrail.
It landed below on the ramp to the Leverett Connector and fell apart on impact, blocking both sides of the road.
The cab and flatbed were separated from the box portion of the truck, which was mangled on the highway.
The truck driver, Paul Healy, 35, of Brockton, was hurt. Police said he was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital with a minor injury. The hospital says Healy is in fair condition.
The Cadillac driver, Vivencia Bellegarde, 25, of Everett, was arrested for operating under the influence of liquor.
She was arraigned in Boston Municipal Court and ordered held on $10,000 cash bail. If she makes bail, she must stay away from alcohol and not drive until her license is reinstated.
According to MassDOT, her license had been suspended ten times before Monday's crash.
Both sides of the road were closed for the cleanup, which lasted into the beginning of the morning rush hour.
They were re-opened just before 7 a.m., but there were residual delays.
The Globe had no comment on the crash.
