Boston Gets Closer To Tokyo With Dreamliner Direct Service
BOSTON (CBS) - Logan is the first airport in North America to schedule regular flights to the Far East aboard the 787 Dreamliner.
Unlike older jumbo jets, the new highly-efficient Dreamliner can make the trip fully loaded.
Logan Airport Director of Aviation Ed Freni says new destinations are now open for Boston travelers.

I went on board accompanied by Boeing's Laurie Gunter, who says the high ceiling and over-sized windows mean a more spacious feeling inside for everyone on board.
Gunter says the Dreamliner has LED lighting that can be any color, and the headroom upon boarding is 6 feet 7 inches.
The Japan Airlines 787 Dreamliner is powered by General Electric jet engines.
GE says some of the design work and components were made in Lynn, but GEnx Program Leader Chuck Nugent says it's really a global effort.
Nugent says the engines are 15% more fuel efficient and produce far few emissions.
JAL has ordered 45 Boeing 787 aircraft equipped with GE engines.
After June 1st, the direct flights to Japan will be leaving daily.
