Boston Fire Crews Respond To Several Manhole Explosions
BOSTON (CBS) -- Firefighters in Brighton are going to door to door testing carbon monoxide levels in homes after several manhole explosions.
The Boston Fire Department responded to the scene on Lake Street at Comm Ave early Sunday morning and were there when more exploded around 10:30 a.m.
While no one was injured, the explosions damaged at least one car.
According to officials, the manholes belong to the MBTA and they cut off power to examine the problem.
MBTA crews arrived at the scene around 9 a.m.
They said smoldering lines in some of the holes could be to blame but the official cause is under investigation.
