Boston Crossing Guard Honored For Heroics
BOSTON (CBS) - Two years after a Boston crossing guard was struck and killed by an elderly driver, she's being honored as a hero.
Marie Conley of Boston was chosen to receive the 2011 Citizen Service Before Self Honors.
It's one of the highest civilian awards, and is chosen by Medal of Honor recipients.
Back in 2008, Marie Conley was helping a 10 year-old cross the street at the Mather school in Dorchester.
Conley sacrificed her own life to save a young boy by using her own body to shield the boy from the car.
