BC's Luke Kuechly Finalist For Lott Trophy
BOSTON (CBS) – Boston College linebacker Luke Kuechly has been named one of the eight semifinalists for the eighth annual Lott IMPACT Trophy.
Named after Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott, the Lott Trophy is awarded to college football's Defensive IMPACT Player of the Year.
Kuechly has registered an NCAA-leading 150 tackles, including 80 solo stops, in 10 games this season. Last time out against the Florida State Seminoles, the junior register 20 tackles, his second 20-tackle game of the season.
The eight semifinalists include five linebackers – Kuechly, Emmanuel Acho (Texas), Lavonte David (Nebraska), Don't'a Hightower (Alabama) and Manti Te'o (Notre Dame) , two defensive backs –Brodrick Brown (Oklahoma State) and Chase Minnifield (Virginia), and one defensive lineman – John Simon (Ohio State).
Kuechly was a unanimous All-America first-team selection as a sophomore after leading the nation in tackles (183) and solo tackles (110).
