Boston City Council Honors Donna Summer
BOSTON (CBS) - Veteran Boston City Councilor Charles Yancey said on Wednesday that Donna Summer put the city of Boston on the musical map of the nation when she hit it big.
That's why he pushed for a moment of silence and a written tribute in recognition of her accomplishments all at Wednesday's city council meeting.

"Donna Summer was a daughter of Boston, specifically of Mission Hill and Roxbury," City Councilor Yancey said. "And people of Boston appreciate the achievements of Donna Summer and the sacrifices she made."
Yancey says that Donna Summer came from humble beginnings and no matter how big she got, no matter how famous, she never forgot her Boston roots.
