Thornton On T&R: Let's Not Order Rings Just Yet
BOSTON (CBS) – The Boston Bruins may be riding a six-game win streak, but they are not ready to start celebrating yet.
There is still plenty of work to be done this season.
"Pucks are going in right now. I don't want to build it up too much. Things are going well right now, but we're not in the playoff picture; we still have some climbing to do," forward Shawn Thornton told 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher and Rich on Thursday.
"I think we're playing pretty good right now, but let's not be ordering the rings just yet," said Thornton.
The Bruins close out a five-game home stand against the Columbus Blue Jackets Thursday night, who are sitting in the basement of the Western Conference at 3-13-1.
Could the matchup be a "trap" game for the red-hot Bruins?
"If we're not prepared for it, it could be," said Thornton. "I think we have to make sure we're ready. You can't look at the standings, and I don't. I didn't know what place they were in until someone brought it up yesterday. You're supposed to prepare the same way very night, doesn't matter if you're playing the best team or the worst team."

Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask was a little upset in practice on Wednesday, and let his anger get the best of him. Thornton had a front-row seat for Tuukka's tizzy, and gave Toucher and Rich the play-by-play of it all.
"He tried to break his stick. It didn't break which made it more funny," said Thornton. "We were practicing power play and penalty kill. He had the unfortunate end of having me as one of his PKers and it didn't go so well for him. I might have left guys wide open in the slot for one-timers on him. I think he was a little upset that the chances weren't what he'd see in a game."
Rask has had some minor fusses in the past, and Thornton said this is nothing new. But still, it was a lot of fun to watch.
"It's always funny when guys can't break their sticks; it's happened to me too so I can laugh about it," he said.
