Boston-Based Journalist Detained In Libya Allowed Visitor
BOSTON (AP) -- The employer of one of two American journalists being detained by forces loyal to Libyan leader Moammar Gadhaf says they have been allowed a visitor for the first time after more than a month in captivity.
James Foley, who was covering the conflict in Libya for the Boston-based news agency GlobalPost, was captured April 5.
Foley has been detained with Clare Morgana Gillis, a freelance journalist who wrote for The Atlantic and USA Today.
A GlobalPost spokesman said Wednesday that an intermediary visited Foley and Gillis in Tripoli and said they were in good health and being treated well.
Their families plan to hold the vigil Wednesday evening on the steps of Harvard University's Memorial Church.
Foley's family is from Rochester, N.H. Gillis's parents live in New Haven, Conn.
