Boston-Area Royal Wedding Celebrations

BOSTON (CBS) - The Royal Wedding is going to be a spectacular international affair.  You don't have to travel to England to celebrate.  Plenty of local establishments are planning events to commemorate the day of Friday, April 29, 2011, and you're invited.  Some are free, others do require reservations. 

Royal Wedding Open House
Old State House, 206 Washington Street, Boston
Noon – 2 p.m.
This is the BIG ONE!!! The British Consulate is partnering with the Bostonian Society to host a celebration of past and present ties. Join them as they toast to the health of the Royal couple. All members of the public are invited.

Wedding of the Century
Plimoth Plantation, 137 Warren Ave, Plymouth
5–9 a.m.
Plimoth Plantation will broadcast the Royal Wedding live on the big screen in the Linn Theater for free. Don your fancy-dress hats, sip mimosas and English breakfast tea, and enjoy English muffins and scones with jam. Prizes will be awarded for the finest fashion in millinery. The wedding celebration is a family-friendly event and is free with Museum admission.

Royal Tweet Trivia
The Bristol Lounge at Four Seasons Hotel, Boston
5:45 a.m. - 7 a.m. (and all day)
Royal-themed questions will be posted to #royalBL on Twitter. The first correct answer wins a Princess Catherine-worthy spa treatment. Guests dining at the Bristol Lounge for breakfast will also have a chance to win an overnight stay.

Commemorate the Year's Most Awaited Nuptials

Royal Wedding News Coverage - 11 a.m. - 5 p.m., Tea Service sittings at 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Watch news coverage of the nuptials, enjoy traditional English Tea Service, and delight in culinary creations similar to those that will be served at Buckingham Palace. Cost: $30.

A Royal Wedding Celebration at Barefoot
Barefoot Bookstore, 89 Thoreau Street, Concord
2-3 p.m.
Don your favorite royal garb and come celebrate. Children named "Kate" and "William," receive a free book! The book store will feature wonderful stories, some fun 'royal' craft time, and the option to paint truly royal (and discounted) pottery.

Afternoon Tea at Aura
The Seaport Hotel, Boston
2-5 p.m.
They will be serving afternoon tea, finger sandwiches, Champagne to toast the happy couple, and chocolate covered strawberries as you watch their wedding on a wide, flat screen television. You're invited to view the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Refreshments and raffles. To register for this program call 508-799-1232.

Royal Wedding Celebration
75 Chestnut Restaurant, Boston
5 p.m. – 1 a.m.
75 Chestnut will feature an international recap of wedding day festivities, Royal Drinks, British Dinner Specials and a complimentary replica of the wedding cake. For reservations, call (617) 227-9600.

Renew Your Vows in Royal Fashion
The British Beer Company, 85 Providence Highway, Walpole (and all other BBC locations)
6 p.m.
The BBC is serving up a special menu that includes a "Royal Roasted Prime Rib." Renew your own vows and take part in a champagne toast while enjoying proper English hor'derves and wedding cake fit for the queen. Reenactment groups portraying the Grenadier Guards, the Red Coats, and a Scottish Pipe Band will all be on hand.
