More than 100 protesters marched through the city.
"If we don't come together and stand together and fight these issues that we have, we're going to continue to have the same problems," said a protester.
Organizers marched down Blue Hill Avenue from Mattapan to Roxbury.
Reverend Jeffrey Brown of Twelfth Baptist Church discussed the protest.
"The conditions in which Baltimore blew up are present here in this city, in every city throughout the nation," he said. "This is not, 'we're lucky in Boston,' or that Boston is better in many respects."
Clergy members say they've worked to forge relationships between police and communities and it's made all the difference.
"We've got relationships and we also have a determination from leadership to actually move our society forward," said one member. "The challenge is, how far can we move it?"
Boston police Superintendent William Gross says at times, it's been a difficult year to wear the uniform.
"Teachable moments, learning from other experiences in other cities and towns. That's how we'll go forward," he said. "(We are) learning best practices, what we should do (and) taking constructive criticism."
